Outstanding in the Field Announces 2009 Schedule
(March 19, 2009) This year is shaping up to be a big one for both Outstanding in the Field and farm dinners in general. From a recent OITF newsletter: “Everyone is curious about the dinners and wants to participate. Outstanding in the Field has come a long way since 1999 when founder Jim Denevan first started convincing people it was valuable and interesting to dine out in a field with farmers. Even in the midst of economic difficulty, or perhaps even more so because of it, people want to get out there, take a look around, celebrate farmers and farming and sit together to share a meal. We look forward to seeing you at the table in 2009 for what has become a far-reaching and successful effort to give farmers and producers the respect and appreciation they are due.”
Among the many announced dinners are two of local interest. One is on Sept. 26 at Animal Farm in Cat Springs; the second is the following day on Sept. 27 at Jolie Vue Farm in Brenham. Both are $180 per person. There is also one in Austin on Sept. 29. Tickets for all the dinners go on sale March 20, 2009.
