On the cover

Houston artist and gallery owner Max Boyd Harrison is a native Texan with a passion for art and good food. When he is not focusing on the artists in his gallery, Gallery M2 (325 W. 19th, www.GalleryMSquared.com), he can be found at either of his favorite Heights restaurants, Vietnam (605 W. 19th) or Shade (250 W. 19th). “Both restaurants are works of art, with guests being placed at the center of the composition,” says Harrison.

Here’s what you’ll find in our February-March 2009 edition:

Cocktails have taken on previously unimagined weightiness. Artisanal liqueurs, house-made bitters, juices from fruits you’ve never seen at Central Market – all are going into the new culinary-driven cocktails suddenly being shaken up around town. A dirty gin martini? That’s so 20th century.
