Food for the Soul by Monique Y. Wells ($44.95, Elton-Wolf Publishing) This is a labor of love, written by an African-American Houstonian living in Paris trying to explain soul food. Beautifully illustrated, it presents family recipes, Texas and Louisiana culinary culture and a history of ingredients commonly used in soul food dishes. To order this book here. |
