About My Table Magazine

My Table, Houston’s dining magazine, is published by Lazywood Press. It’s a different kind of publication: personal, quirky and specialized. Each issue offers readers the most complete information on the restaurants, chefs, shops, foods, trends, caterers, festivals and personalities that make the city’s lively culinary scene. John Mariani, the restaurant critic for Esquire magazine, calls My Table “both indispensable and a joy to read.” Order now!

Acceptable file formats include PDF, Quark XPress, InDesign, Freehand and Illustrator files in Macintosh format. Graphics within ad layouts must be 100% scale and at least 350 dpi. Please label all disks. Artwork cannot be returned.

COLOR FORMAT We accept color ads digitally (see Black & White Ad Format, above) and require a color proof also be provided. Original scans should be 300 DPI for photos, 600 DPI for line art. Customer is responsible for any additional charges from the printer for high-res scanning and placing of color materials. No separations, please.

About Our Special Events

With each bimonthly issue, My Table magazine strives to be the first word on the vibrant restaurant scene we enjoy in Houston. We also aspire to honor individual excellence via The Houston Culinary Awards, our annual awards for culinary distinction. Founded in 1997, these 10 awards—including Restaurateur of the Year, Chef of the Year, Best Interior Design, Best New Restaurant, etc.—are presented annually in October. The voting is city wide, and the gala evening is always sold out.

In 2001, we became the co-presenter of the annual Caesar Salad Competition, one of the most entertaining (and hotly contested) food fights in Houston.

In 1998, My Table introduced Off The Eaten Path — A Series of Culinary Excursions and took 11 readers to New Orleans for a weekend of dining, private tours, wine tastings and a hands-on cooking lesson with Susan Spicer. In November 2000, we took 16 readers to Italy for cooking lessons and tastings with renowned author/teacher Diane Seed in both Rome and along the Amalfi Coast. And in January 2007, we took 16 culinary adventurers to Puebla, Mexico. Chef Hugo Ortega (of Hugo’s Restaurant, Houston) was our on-ground guide to dining, market shopping and cooking instruction.

The magazine also organizes numerous dinners and events. For example, in January 2002 we launched an 11-part dining series titled Around the World in Houston Restaurants. The purpose was to explore the varied ethnic cuisine offered in this international city. We even created “passports” and “visa stamps” for our diners. Our open-to-the-public tastings and seminars have included tastings of tequila, Kentucky bourbon, Burgundy wines, Armagnac and other spirits. In October 2002 we co-sponsored our first recipe contest, with Mathilde Liqueur. The lucky winner got a trip to Cognac, France!
